በሲአርኤስ ውሃ፣ መስኖ እና ማዕድን ልማት ቢሮ እና በዩኒሴፍ መካከል ያለው ትብብር በመካከለኛው ኢትዮጵያ ያሉ ማህበረሰቦች የሚያጋጥሟቸውን የውሃ አቅርቦት እና ንፅህና ተግዳሮቶችን ለመፍታት የትብብር ጥረት ነው። የቢሮውን የሀገር ውስጥ እውቀት ከዩኒሴፍ የቴክኒክ ድጋፍ እና ግብአት ጋር በማጣመር ትብብሩ በክልሉ ዘላቂ እና ውጤታማ ውጤቶችን ለማስመዝገብ ያለመ ነው። ትብብሩ ለታለመላቸው ማህበረሰቦች ሁሉን አቀፍ የውሃ እና የንፅህና አገልግሎትን ለማረጋገጥ በሁለቱም የረጅም ጊዜ የልማት ፕሮጀክቶች እና የአደጋ ጊዜ ምላሽ ስራዎች ላይ ያተኮረ ነው።

የፕሮግራም አላማዎች
በዩኒሴፍ የታገዘ የውሃ አቅርቦት እና ሳኒቴሽን መርሃ ግብር ዋና አላማዎች የሚከተሉት ናቸው።
• ሞትን እና ህመምን መቀነስ፡ መርሃ ግብሩ ንፁህ እና ንጹህ የመጠጥ ውሃ አቅርቦትን እና የተሻሻሉ የንፅህና መጠበቂያ መሳሪያዎችን በማቅረብ የውሃ ወለድ በሽታዎችን እና ተዛማጅ ሞትን እና ህመምን መጠን ለመቀነስ ያለመ ነው። ይህ የማህበረሰቡን አጠቃላይ ጤና እና ደህንነት ለማሻሻል ወሳኝ ነው።
• ኑሮን ማሻሻል፡- አስተማማኝ የንፁህ ውሃ እና የንፅህና አጠባበቅ ተደራሽነትን በማረጋገጥ፣ መርሃ ግብሩ ለታለመላቸው ማህበረሰቦች የመተዳደሪያ እድሎችን ለማሳደግ ይፈልጋል። የንፁህ ውሃ አቅርቦት የግብርና ምርታማነትን ያበረታታል፣ ገቢ ማስገኛ ስራዎችን ይደግፋል እና የውሃ አሰባሰብን ሸክም በተለይም የሴቶች እና ህፃናትን ይቀንሳል።
• በሁሉም መልኩ ድህነትን መቀነስ፡- መርሃግብሩ ከዋና መንስኤዎቹ አንዱን - በቂ የውሃ አቅርቦት እና የአካባቢ ጽዳትና ንፅህና አገልግሎት አለማግኘትን በመቅረፍ ከድህነት ቅነሳ ሰፊ ግብ ጋር ይጣጣማል። የጤና ውጤቶችን በማሻሻል፣የጤና አጠባበቅ ወጪዎችን በመቀነስ እና ኢኮኖሚያዊ እንቅስቃሴዎችን በማስቻል ፕሮግራሙ ለድህነት ቅነሳ ጥረቶች አስተዋፅኦ ለማድረግ ያለመ ነው።

 

Partnership Overview

The partnership between the CERS Water, Irrigation, and Mines Development Bureau and UNICEF is a collaborative effort to address the water supply and sanitation challenges faced by the communities in Central Ethiopia. By combining the local expertise of the Bureau with UNICEF's technical support and resources, the partnership aims to achieve sustainable and impactful results in the region. The collaboration is focused on both long-term development projects and emergency response initiatives to ensure comprehensive water and sanitation services for the target communities.

Program Objectives

The primary objectives of the UNICEF-assisted Water Supply and Sanitation Program are as follows:

Minimize Mortality and Morbidity: The program aims to reduce waterborne diseases and related mortality and morbidity rates by providing access to safe and clean drinking water and improved sanitation facilities. This is crucial for improving the overall health and well-being of the communities.Improve Livelihoods: By ensuring reliable access to clean water and sanitation, the program seeks to enhance livelihood opportunities for the target communities. Access to safe water promotes agricultural productivity, supports income-generating activities, and reduces the burden of water collection, particularly for women and children.Reduce Poverty in All Its Forms: The program aligns with the broader goal of poverty reduction by addressing one of its underlying causes – inadequate access to water and sanitation services. By improving health outcomes, reducing healthcare expenses, and enabling economic activities, the program aims to contribute to poverty reduction efforts.
